Happy Labor Day!  We hope you are in fact not laboring and that you are having some fun with your family today!  I wanted to share with you a little treasure I found browsing Pinterest the other day.  I ran across the cutest pin of books and activities to go with each of the books listed.  My little guy loves books and I loved the idea of making the books come alive and helping him realize that many of the things we read about are real, even though we may haven’t seen them before.  All of us have learned an unimaginable amount of things from books.  Just think of everything we read in text books in school.  Things we may never see but are important for us to know and learn about.  What better time to start than now!

We decided to start with one of my favorite silly books, If You Give A Moose A Muffin.  We love going to the library so half the fun was finding our chosen book and bringing it back home.

After reading we of course, had to make muffins and the kids had a blast!  Of course they both had to have a handle on the whisk.  (We tried to take turns but they figured out that doing it at the same time gave them maximum stirring time. :)

I think the favorite part of making muffins was putting in (and then taking out, and then putting in) the muffin liner into their places in the tin.

After baking, we of course LOVED eating our muffins.  The kids had a blast, and it was so fun to make our book come alive!

So grab a book that you can act out, cook something from, make a craft about, or even go to a place it talks about, and jump start your child’s learning!  Check out this cute blog post from Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas for a ton of other great ideas on books with activities to go with them!
