family art expeditionInspiration.  We needed inspiration.  Our cheap kitchen table with remnants of lunch sticking to our paper was not cutting it.  So we packed our “packpack” and hit the road.  Everyone grabbed something that was artistic to them.  E grabbed her dollar store water colors along with other babies.  Dad grabbed his nice water-color paper and profesh water colors and brushes.  I grabbed my camera and a cookie sheet.  And T had watermelon in one hand and a rock in the other.  Pure happiness.

Someday in the future I hope that we can just walk outside and find nature staring back at us.  But right now it takes buckling up and going to a designated “save the earth” spot.

Once there we walked until inspiration hit us.  Then we sat and captured it all on paper.  I felt like a true artist.  Until the mosquitoes sucked the joy out of it and we had to run for our lives (E came home with 11 bites).

Inspiration and passion.  We found them both.  We discovered that our one year old is passionate not only for dirt and fruit, but for painting.  The determination he had on his face was incredible.  He totally got it.  Hold the paint brush, dip in water, dip in color, stroke on paper.

Our masterpieces are now the main event above our fireplace.
